Last night my husband gave me the best Valentine’s Day gift! He shared some exciting news with me that he’s been keeping from me since Wed. (he told me Friday)! We found out that he was the only one from Arizona accepted into an internship he applied for! This is HUGE news! We were so excited. I’m so proud of him! This is a tough internship to get. It also pays well, which is a blessing. This puts us one step closer to our goal of being able to buy a house and live in one place longer than two years.
Right now we don’t have all the details for the 10-week internship. We will know more after next week when Patrick goes to California to interview with the people over the specific areas.
They gave us a long list of possible places we could go. So we know we’ll be moving from Arizona this summer since Arizona isn’t on list of internship locations. Utah isn’t either. There are a lot of places in California. So we are hoping to go there. Colorado is also one of our choices that we’d like. We will be there from June to August this year.
The recruiter told Patrick that most people who complete this internship are offered a job after, which is great news! We won’t know where the job is until after the internship. We are hoping to move back to Arizona. There is a location in Phoenix.
I moved out out my parents’ house when I was 18 in 1999 after I graduated high school to go to college. I have been moving ever since! I have loved the people I’ve met and places I’ve traveled to. I lived in several places in Utah, Wales in the UK, Jerusalem for a summer, New York for a summer and now Arizona for the past 18 months. I was also able to travel a lot too. I went to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, several places in Mexico, Jamaica, Jordan, Egypt, Italy, France, England, and others. Each time I’ve lived or visited a new place, I felt that there was a reason I was there. I’ve had some incredible experiences and met some amazing people.
Although, I’ve loved traveling and meeting new people, the one thing I’ve lacked during this time is a stable home. Every time I’ve moved to a new place, I knew it was temporary.
Right now most of our furniture is in our place in Utah. We moved pretty quickly to Arizona once we found out Patrick was accepted to Arizona State University for the MBA program. We left our home with most of the furniture and rented it. Now we’re living in a small apartment.
One Step at a Time
I’ve learned several things over the past 15 years since I moved out of my parents’ house, but one thing that sticks out most to me is that I need to take things one step at a time. This is hard for me because I always want to know the plan. I want to have things all laid out in front of me so I know what to expect and how to plan for them.
I’ve also learned to trust in God, my Heavenly Father, to lead me through life. I’ve learned that my plans aren’t always His plans for me, but when I trust in Him, his plans always end up better than mine.
So right now, I don’t know exactly what is going to happen this year for us, but I do know that are prayers are being answered and we are being led to know where to go and what to do.
So, I’ll continue to take it one step at a time.
