Progress NOT Perfection

I’m a perfectionist… This is not a good thing when you are a mom!

Before I got married, I was able to keep up with my perfectionist personality. I was able to keep my place perfectly clean and organized, stay on top of a full time job plus two side jobs at once. I was always on the go, and I was able to keep everything under control. I still got overwhelmed, but I was always able to handle multiple things at once.

MY NEW MOTTO 

Since I’ve become a mom, I’ve realized I can’t be a perfectionist anymore. It’s pretty much impossible. I’d like to keep my house perfectly organized, have delicious meals cooked everyday, stay on top of my job, church responsibilities and side jobs, but no… This does not happen.

My new motto is progress NOT perfection! This works MUCH better! I still have a lot of things going on, but as long as I’m progressing, I’m okay with it!

If my house is half way cleaned, or I made healthy meals four out of seven days of the week, that’s great! If I worked out during the day instead of at 6 a.m., that’s awesome! At least I did it, right?!

The key is PROGRESS, not PERFECTION!

HEALTH & FITNESS

This motto can be applied to health and fitness too! Some people think they need to be perfect at working out and eating healthy to get results. The truth is, you don’t. All you have to do is KEEP TRYING! Keep making progress and STOP trying to be perfect! If you do this, you’ll see results over time.

I always say that small changes each day make BIG results in the long run! It’s so true. I have lost 64 pounds (that includes the baby and water weight) since the day my baby was born last Aug. 2011. I’ve lost 46 pounds since I started working out six weeks after my baby was born last year. These changes didn’t come from me being perfect at health and fitness! These changes came from taking small steps each day and making progress.

Don’t get overwhelmed at everything you need to do to be healthy and fit. Just take it one day at a time. One day you’ll look back and see BIG changes! Don’t give up!
