My Story

Everyone has a story that has ups and downs, good times and bad times, and something to learn from it.

This is my story. I’d like to share it with the hope that it might inspire someone out there who reads it. 🙂

The Day Everything Changed

I used to blog weekly and sometimes even daily. I love writing, and I loved sharing what was happening in our lives. Then one day my whole life changed when we moved from Utah to Arizona in August 2012.

We moved from our comfortable home and left everything behind. We left most of our furniture, family, friends and about 32 years of memories (for me). It was hard to leave, and no one understood why we left.

Moving

Moving from Utah to Arizona

I was excited for my husband to go to graduate school at Arizona State University, but I was sad to leave everything behind, and didn’t know what was up ahead.

Little did I know how hard it would be when we got there.

I still tried to write on my blog once in a while, but it was hard for me to write. Life was so much different than what I had known in the past, and it was hard to write about. Things got better over time (we were there for almost 2 1/2 years), but looking back, it was a really difficult time in my life.

Life in Arizona

We moved into a small, two bedroom apartment in Arizona. It was a lot smaller than what we were used to, and we were pretty packed with our two kids. It was humbling.

My husband and I both quit our jobs in Utah, and thought my husband had a job in Arizona. When we got there, the job fell through. For the first four months, we weren’t able to get a job. We also couldn’t find renters for our place in Utah so we were paying our mortgage there too.

Our savings went quickly, our credit cards started going up, and my husband did odd jobs at his dad’s office for extra money. When December came, we were really struggling.

Facing my Biggest Fear

Growing up, my biggest fear was not having enough money to pay my bills. When I got pregnant, I had nightmares about not being able to have food to feed our kids.

For the first time in my life, I was facing one of my biggest fears. I got depressed, and didn’t want to leave our apartment.

On the outside, I tried to act positive, but on the inside, I was struggling so much.

My Dad’s Challenge

During this time, my dad gave me a challenge. He challenged me to go outside of my apartment. Just take it one step at a time, and go outside.

So I did. Then gradually I started meeting people and making friends.

I started focusing on helping others instead of thinking about myself. It helped. I started to feel better.

When my Beachbody Hobby Turned into a Business

I became a Beachbody Coach in Dec. 2011. I loved their workouts and wanted to help others feel confident and healthy like I did.

At first, it was a fun side hobby that I did in between working three side jobs and taking care of our 4 month old and 2 year old.

When we moved to Arizona, I was grateful I had it because it gave us an extra $1,000 a month to help out with the bills.

As things started getting worse, people approached me with other businesses, and I started looking at them. They said I could do a lot better than I could with Beachbody. So I decided to try two of them in addition to my Beachbody business.

The problem was that my heart wasn’t in them. I was only doing them for the money.

In April 2013, I met other Beachbody Coaches in Arizona, and decided to go all IN with Beachbody. I decided to quit the other businesses I was doing, and focus all of my attention on Beachbody. I saw others having a lot of success with it, and decided I wanted to also.

I was sick and tired of struggling, and didn’t want to work outside my home.

So I did just that. I went all in in April 2013.

The Best Decision I Ever Made

Going all in with my Beachbody business was the best decision I ever made at that point. Focusing on helping others helped me forget about the struggles I was facing. The more I served others and helped them, the more I forgot about my problems, and the faster my business grew.

I met other people in Arizona who wanted to be Beachbody Coaches, and we started meeting together each week learning the business together and helping others. It was pretty awesome.

By March 2014, I had my first weekly check of over $1,100 just for helping others. I was making that in a MONTH the year before.

It wasn’t about the money to me, but it was definitely a blessing to be able to have some extra income coming in to help our family stay afloat.

My husband was able to get a job, but it was commission only, and we were definitely struggling while he was going through graduate school.

Flash Forward to Now

I don’t think I would have ever tried to grow my Beachbody business if I wouldn’t have gone through that trial. I would have kept it as a side hobby business, and been happy with that.

I think everything happens for a reason. Now, just over three years since I started and just under two years since I decided to go all in and turn my hobby into a business, I’m close to making $100,000 total in my business, and on track to making close to $100,000 just this year as a Beachbody Coach. That’s so crazy to me! That I can earn that much just by helping others and doing something I love.

Looking back on our trials the past couple of years, they really became blessings. We met some amazing people, grew and learned from the whole experience, and now have a solid business that is helping us pay off our debt and earn money for our first home.

Today, March 23, 2015, we are living in California. My husband gradated from graduate school and got a great job. For the first time in my life (I’ve had 1-3 jobs since I was 13 years old), I don’t need to work.

Someone asked me if that would slow down my Beachbody business. I said, “No way! I just made my goals even bigger this year!”

It’s so much more than just the money for me. That is a bonus. I love helping others and doing something I’m passionate about. I love seeing other moms feel great about themselves and also helping coaches succeed financially.

So now I’m BACK, and I’ll be blogging to share our journey going forward with the highs and lows that are to come.

I’d Love to Hear from You!
