Hammer and Chisel Workout Review

I did it! I finished Beachbody’s Hammer and Chisel workout program! This is a 60-Day workout from Beachbody that came out in December 2015. I also used Shakeology everyday.

A Little About me

Before I review the program, you should know a little about me. I am married, and we have three little girls who are 6, 4 and five months old.

I’ve been doing Beachbody workout for about six years now. I’ve done pretty much all of them now. I love most of them, but not all of them.

I had a baby in September 2015 so I was using this workout to help me get in shape after having a baby. I started the workouts in December when they came out, but really started focusing on the calendar and following the schedule in January.

FYI- I was also breastfeeding my baby the whole time.

What I Loved About the Program

– The variety of workouts. I was sore in places I haven’t been sore in a long time! That was awesome! I also loved that I didn’t do the same workouts all the time. It was always changing.

– It taught me how to lift weights. When I used to go to the gym, I’d stare at the weights and have NO idea which order or how many reps to do! I loved how this workout teaches us how many reps to do and how much weight to use. It takes the guess work out!

– Using a bench. I’ve never used a bench in a workout program before so that was fun!

– The trainers. It was fun watching two trainers in the workout instead of just one. I learned something from both of them.

– The length of the workouts. They were about 30-40 min. each day. That was nice with my busy schedule.

– The muscle definition. I started to see muscle definition again! This was great since I haven’t seen my muscles in a while since I was pregnant.

-My stomach went DOWN!! That was awesome! I saw the biggest difference in my stomach (as you can see in the pictures). It was awesome to see my stomach go down!

What I Didn’t Love About the Program

– Weight loss was slow. It didn’t help me with speedy weight loss. This workout is not ideal if you want to see the pounds drop off fast. It did help with the inches, and my clothes fitting better, but the scale didn’t go down fast. I only lost about 5 lbs. total in the 2 months.

– Not enough cardio. I love cardio! This workout had more weight lifting than cardio. I like more cardio.

-Not enough stretching. I needed more stretching. I would have also liked to see a video just for stretching to stretch more. I felt so sore. I needed more stretching.

My Thoughts Overall

Overall, I enjoyed the program. I loved the variety of moves, and the results I got. Is it my #1 go to workout for after having a baby? No, but I would recommend it to anyone who wants to build muscle and lose inches.
