Down 68 Pounds with P90X and Insanity

It’s Success Sunday! Every Sunday we share a success story on our blog! This Sunday we’d like to highlight Joe’s amazing story! One of the coaches on our team, Dale, has been coaching him the past few months. He’s lost 68 pounds from P90X and Insanity! WOW! That’s awesome! Congratulations Joe! We are so happy for you! Here is Joe’s story in his own words.

Struggling to Lose Weight

I have always been on the heavy side. All through high school I was bigger than most of my friends. I didn’t play sports, and my only exercise was participating in gym class.

When I got out of high school I never really did anything to stay in shape. Unfortunately it didn’t take long for me to become very over weight. At my heaviest, around seven years ago, I checked the scale and saw that I was 269 lbs. For a long time after that, I never checked the scale, so I don’t know how heavy I really got.

Over the years I had tried to eat better by limiting my soda and fast food intake. It would only last so long. I never added exercise so I never lost much weight.

Making one Healthy Change After Another

Over the last couple of years, through eating better, I was able to lose some weight but I was still in the 240-250 lbs range.

I really got inspired to lose weight when my wife decided that we both needed to get in shape. We started out by walking/running and trying to eat better meals at home. When I started running, I was only able to do a mile run in 16 minutes. That was terrible.

Although this helped a little and I was able to lose about 15 lbs., my wife and I decided to buy Insanity and try that after seeing an infomercial. That was my jumping in point. Wow, Insanity was hard! When I started, I could barely get through the warm up let along the workout. Over time I got better and better, and by the end I was able to do much more, and lost 25 lbs. After my first time through Insanity, I was also able to run a mile in 10 minutes. Now I regularly run over four miles multiple times a week and I do it in just over eight minutes/mile.

Joe’s Results!

To date, I have done two rounds of Insanity, one round of P90X, and I have completed my first 5k run. I have lost 68 lbs and over 25 inches overall. I have gone from a size 38 pants to a size 30. I have never felt as good as I do right now.

Joe’s Tip

Don’t give up on your dreams and aspirations. Hard work and dedication pay off. Stick with it!
