Busy Mom and Nurse Lost 9 lbs. in 3 Weeks

I get so excited when I hear about the successes from the people in our fitness challenges! It is so rewarding to see them get results and feel awesome!

Today I’d like to highlight a friend from the East Coast, Megan.

Here is her story in her own words:

Megan’s Story


I am a busy working mom of 3 kids, ages 2, 12, and 14. I am also a charge nurse on the High Risk OB unit at Florida Hospital Orlando. It is a very rewarding and stressful job. And those of us who have stressful jobs know that it can feel nearly impossible to eat healthy and avoid “stress eating.”

I started the year 2015 with my usual “New Year’s Resolution” of losing weight and getting in shape. I was the heaviest I had EVER been while not pregnant with my kids. I could barely keep up with my 2 year old son. Those of us who have boys know that they are always busy and on the go! I started counting calories and using various apps on my smart phone to keep track of what I was eating, but I wasn’t seeing any results.

The Moment That Changed Everything

One morning I was getting dressed and caught a glimpse of myself in the bathroom mirror. I snapped a picture of what I saw and just kept staring at it while asking myself, “How did you let yourself get like this?”

The REAL eye opener happened one morning as I was catching my train to work. I was running late and heard the RR crossing signal alarm as I was getting my belongings out of my car. I ran as fast as I could with all of my work gear in hand. All of a sudden I felt my knees begin to buckle and give out as I was running dangerously across the tracks! I didn’t fall and obviously made it across the tracks unharmed, well physically unharmed. Emotionally and psychologically I was traumatized! I kept asking myself, “What if you had fallen?” “You could have been seriously injured or killed, leaving your husband and 3 kids behind!” I knew that it was time to take eating healthy and getting into shape seriously.

Ready to get Results

On my next day off I was flipping through the channels attempting to find something to watch, and I stumbled across an infomercial for a weight loss and exercise program. It was called the 21-day fix by Beachbody. It claimed that I could lose up to 16 lbs. in just 3 weeks. After doing some research, and with the support of my amazing husband, I ordered the program. By diligently following the portion guidelines and exercise routines, I lost 9 lbs. in just the first 3 weeks! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I stepped on the scale! I was feeling better both physically and emotionally, but I knew I had a long road ahead of me to reach my goal weight.

After having a discussion with my personal coach about my progress, I decided to become a Beachbody Coach. I wanted to help others who were struggling with the same health and fitness challenges as I was. As of today 5/11/15, I have lost a total of 22.2 lbs! I am only 2 lbs shy of my pre-pregnancy weight with my daughter 13 years ago!!
