Working out Came Easily Through Cheer Practices
Hello! I am a 21-year-old student studying to be a high school Math teacher. Since I was little I have always been active. I was involved in park district sports, gymnastic, and dance. Once I got older I decided to stick to cheerleading and tumbling. Competitive cheerleading became a big part of my life through middle school and high school. While being on a competitive squad, we had conditioning practices every week. Working out came easily for me through cheer practices. I never had to worry about my weight.
Gaining Weight in College
That all changed once I went away to college and was not able to make the cheerleading team. My first two years of college I attended Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. I did what any normal college student would do; ate crappy food and went out to parties. There was no time for me to workout with studying and wanting to just relax. I would say I gained the freshman 15 because I didn’t add that many numbers to my weight, but I did loose muscle and gain fat.
Discovering Turbo Fire
By the end of my freshman year I was at my highest weight of 147. I wasn’t happy at ISU anymore and decided to transfer home. Once I got home for the summer my mom had showed me this new TurboFire workout that she got! I tried it, and LOVED IT! I started the schedule and decided to stick with it. My mom also asked me if I wanted to try a half marathon with her in October of 2011. I said yes! This was the beginning of me taking working out seriously.
After about a month and a half of doing TurboFire I had to stop to focus on training for my half marathon. Doing both was too much for me then. I finished my first half marathon in 2 hours and 26 minutes!! I was so happy and I had officially got the workout bug!
Insanity, Running and More Beachbody Programs
My mom and I then decided to see what else BeachBody had and we got Insanity. I decided to try that out! I finished Insanity and then wanted to try the Asylum. I was working through the Asylum and decided to do another half-marathon! All together I have used TurboFire, Insanity, Insanity: Asylum (twice), a little of Les Mills Pump, some ChaLEAN Extreme, and have finished 3 Half-Marathons.
I joined Golladay Fit in January of 2013 when I was having a hard time getting motivated to finish Insanity. Joining the group helped me push through! I have gained so much confidence and accountability. From using Beachbody products and running, I have now been able to keep my weight around 135/136! It feels awesome to have reached my goal weight and loose the weight that I gained from going to school!
